Hi everybody,
It’s back-to-school time again. In 8th grade I had a Six Million Dollar Man lunch box. When my grandson starts 3rd grade this fall, I’m thinking that a custom “AI lunchbox” might be the right inspiration for him. Has the world changed since we met the bionic man? My recent blog post ponders the ways.
That popular 1974 TV show told us: “We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better, stronger, faster.” So, Steve Austin got bionics - one arm, both legs, and an eye. Steve’s powers were a big hit with junior high kids, but people then were still “smarter” than computers. No one thought about making Steve’s brain better.
Today, students carry around super computers with three live-action cameras and as many as a dozen sensors, many powered by AI, including facial recognition, ranging, geo-navigation and flower identification apps. “That bionic eye is super cool Steve, but I have an iPhone.”
The education system, like most industries, is determining when AI is a great new tool for faster, deeper learning and when it’s a nemesis bringing undetectable plagiarism. Disagreement on the value of new technology is not new, but I have the same view as Marc Andreessen who recently posted that “AI will save the world.”
I believe a new AI lunch box would be as inspirational to my grandson as the Six Million Dollar Man was to me.
Here’s to being “better, stronger, faster” (with AI),

Within Solifi’s Portfolio Management software (formerly InfoLease), there may be data fields that include a customer’s sensitive information or data you define as accessible only on a ‘need to know’ basis. In this month’s Trail Mix post, we’ll walk through how to safeguard/mask data fields within Portfolio Management as well as how to create user-defined fields and designate them as safeguarded/maskable.

“Technology is a tool, and this technology is a perfect fit for HR,” said Scott Nelson, in a Monitor web exclusive, “Why HR needs AI too.” In the article, Nelson outlines how AI is not only good, but critical, to human resource management in equipment finance. He contends that companies who add AI to their HR practice will make their people feel better about their accomplishments with AI, not fear it.
